Amazing Maui

From surfing to shopping, and everything in between, Maui has something for everyone
Hawaii is a bucket list destination, and when it comes to choosing which of its islands to visit, Maui truly offers something for everyone. Here’s a look at some of Maui’s popular spots.

Napili-Honokowai/Kapalua
These areas of West Maui offer beautiful beaches and natural attractions like the hikeable Kapalua Coastal Trail. The highlight of Kapalua is the 23,000-acre Kapalua Resort, home to the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, two marine sanctuaries, two world-famous golf courses and a variety of top-notch restaurants, boutiques and activities. For a more laid-back stay, Napili is just a bay away. With its kitchenettes and private lanais, Napili Kai Beach Resort is just steps from the ocean.
Pa'ia
This classic surf town located on the North Shore of Maui has a chill vibe you won’t find anywhere else. Enjoy unique shops and local art galleries as well as amazing seafood at restaurants, such as Mama’s Fish House. A mecca for surfers, the white sand Ho‘okipa Beach is considered the windsurfing capital of the world and is a fun place to spend a day with the family.

Visit the Sacred Pools in Hana.

Hana
Located on the Eastern shore of the island, “The Road to Hana,” an iconic 64.4-mile drive, is the only way to reach Hana, other than flying from Kahului. It is full of twists and turns, one-lane bridges and breathtaking scenery, and can take two to four hours to complete. If you don’t want to drive it yourself, there are plenty of tour operators that will take you there, making stops at must-see places like Twin Falls, ‘Ohe’o Gulch (aka Seven Sacred Pools) and the Maui Garden of Eden. Rather than turning around once you arrive, book a stay at Hana-Maui Resort so you can explore the unique black sand and red sand beaches and indulge in a pōhaku wela massage with heated lava rocks.
Wailea
If you’re looking to luxuriate, head south to Wailea. Known for its stunning beaches, award-winning golf courses and world-class spas, Wailea is home to upscale resorts including Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, Fairmont Kea Lani and Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. The Shops at Wailea is a destination in itself, featuring local entertainment, ukulele lessons and lei making, in addition to dozens of stores and restaurants. And don’t miss happy hour at Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman.

Kihei
Experience Maui like the locals do. Kihei’s 6 miles of beaches are perfect for snorkeling, kayaking and just taking in nature. Kids (and adults!) will delight in seeing and swimming with the Hawaiian green sea turtles at Maluaka Beach, and Ma’alaea Bay is a popular departure point for whale watching tours. Book a condo-style property as your home base, then go exploring. Because it is centrally located, you can enjoy the best of both worlds by checking out the nearby luxury shopping and dining, and also get a taste of local eateries, such as Nalu’s South Shore Grill.
