Miami which is known as the Gateway to Latin America attracts a tremendous amount of foreign-born people, resulting in a large Latin American population that includes Cubans, Nicaraguans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Puerto Ricans, Argentineans, Ecuadorians, Brazilians, Dominicans, Haitians and Mexicans. According to the 2000 U.S. census, the City has a 60 percent Hispanic population, a 22.3 percent African-American population, and an 11.9 percent White/other population.

Overview
Puerto Plata is for those seeking an attractively-priced rest vacation with the option of lots of places to visit. Playa Dorada has the largest number of hotel rooms in the North sharing a gold sand beach and the Playa Dorada Golf Course, an 18-hole course. Meet guests from other hotels during evening outings at the casinos and night spots which are open to all guests. Choose Cabarete if you love windsurfing. Cabarete is famous for having excellent conditions for the sport. Many feel the attractiveness of Cabarete is in the people, the mingling of tourists who enjoy the intimacy of the smaller noninclusive hotels. It is also perfect for those who just want the leisure of sitting in the shade or taking the sun on the beach and for parents with little children.

Overview
Located just 50 miles off the east coast of Miami is the tiny fishing paradise known as Bimini. Bimini is not only the nearest (hence the name gateway) and most accessible island by boat, but also the smallest of the 700 islands in the archipelago called The Bahamas. The island is rich in history and has played host to famous persons from as far back as Ponce de Leon, the Spanish Explorer who came in search of the Fountain of Youth in 1513. Bimini was the first island in the Caribbean to have a casino, The Bimini Rod & Gun Club, the remnants of which today serve as a home e. Bimini is hardly a palm-fringed paradise. Abundant casuarina trees and older homes give it a summer camp look. The rustic bars and hotels that cater to the loads of game fishermen, divers & snorkelers lend Bimini a slightly honky-tonk atmosphere. But the exotic of the tropics is never far from her coasts. Divers are all over the shallow turquoise waters, and glass bottom boats load up passengers to view "Atlantis" off North Bimini's Paradise Point.
